How to reduce spam calls in India
DND, reporting, blocking and an AI assistant solve different parts of the interruption problem.
Start with preferences and reporting
Use your carrier’s official Do Not Disturb preferences and reporting tools for unsolicited commercial communication. Keep the caller number, date and time when reporting. Follow the current instructions for your carrier rather than a random code shared online.
TRAI’s consumer resources explain DND and complaint channels. Preferences can reduce legitimate marketing, but cannot promise that every fraudulent or unsolicited caller will stop.
Block repeated callers, keep useful unknown calls
Built-in phone blocking can help with a repeated number. Unknown callers may also be delivery partners, a clinic or someone you need to speak with. Decide whether blanket silencing fits your needs.
Caller-ID labels and automated categories can be mistaken. Do not trust a displayed name as proof that a bank or official is calling. Never share OTPs, PINs or passwords.
Where a call assistant helps
A forwarded-call assistant can ask the caller’s reason and take a short message while you are occupied. It can politely decline offers under your instructions and let you review useful calls.
With no-answer forwarding the phone rings first. LessRings does not prevent every call from reaching the phone, guarantee spam detection or replace emergency access. Check network charges and complete a second-phone test before relying on it.
