How to turn off call forwarding on Jio, Airtel and iPhone

Turn forwarding off with your carrier, then test it. Removing an assistant app alone does not restore the network settings.

First identify the SIM and the forwarding condition

Check which mobile number you configured and whether you enabled all calls, no answer, busy or unreachable. On a dual-SIM phone, make sure a dialler command uses that line. Keep your phone connected to the mobile network and read the carrier confirmation.

If you still want voicemail or another forwarding rule, avoid cancelling every condition without checking what that changes. A single successful cancellation message does not prove that a different condition is also off.

Jio: use MyJio or the published cancellation codes

Jio lists these mobile cancellation codes: *402 for unconditional forwarding, *404 for no answer, *406 for busy, *410 for unreachable, and *413 for all forwarding. These are Jio instructions, not universal codes for other carriers.

In MyJio, Jio’s current instructions use Profile → Mobile Settings → Service Settings → Call Forwarding. Select the active voice or video condition, complete SIM verification, and confirm Disable. Menus can change; use Jio’s help page if your screen differs.

Airtel: distinguish all-call forwarding from conditional rules

Airtel’s published guide gives ##21# to deactivate its all-call forwarding setting and *#21# to check that setting. Do not treat a result for that setting as proof that busy, no-answer and unreachable rules are disabled.

If you enabled conditional forwarding for an assistant, ask Airtel to disable that particular condition or confirm the current supported method for your line. Keep a record of which condition was changed.

iPhone: check the setting and ask about conditional forwarding

Open Settings → Apps → Phone → Call Forwarding and select the relevant line where shown. Turn off the forwarding switch if it is enabled. Apple notes that you need cellular coverage while changing forwarding.

For busy or unreachable forwarding, Apple refers you to the carrier. If the switch is already off but calls still reach another number, investigate conditional forwarding or voicemail with the carrier rather than repeatedly reinstalling your assistant app.

Prove that calls reach you again

From a second phone, call your mobile and answer normally. Make another call and leave it unanswered, then test decline if you used busy forwarding. Confirm that your old assistant no longer answers under those conditions.

If it still answers, record the test time and condition for your carrier or assistant support team. Do not publish the caller’s conversation or your OTP. Forwarding cancellation, deleting your assistant account and cancelling a subscription are separate actions.
